“Fare you well, I love you more than words can tell.”
Bethlehem Steel, founded in 1857 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, grew to become one of the largest and most influential steel manufacturers in the United States. At its peak, the company was a vital part of the American industrial landscape, providing steel for major projects like the Golden Gate Bridge and contributing significantly to the war effort during both World Wars. However, facing increasing competition and changing market conditions, Bethlehem Steel eventually declined and the last "call" or shift was on November 18, 1995.
