Afghan Box Camera
The Afghan box camera is a handmade, wooden camera that functions as both a camera and a darkroom. It allows photographers to capture and develop images on the spot, using traditional photographic paper and chemical processes. This portable device has been widely used in Afghanistan for decades, offering an affordable and instant way to create portraits, often in outdoor settings. I built one in 2019.
Delaware Canal & Lehigh Navigation
To facilitate the Industrial Revolution, a network of man-made waterways were built to move anthracite coal from northeastern Pennsylvania to Philadelphia and the eastern sea board.
This ongoing pinhole photography project documents the vestiges of these natural and engineered areas in ways not seen before.
